FABRICS
For their production ERDBÄR exclusively uses fabrics like organic cotton, tencel, modal and linen. We live and work for a sustainable revolution. On one side we want to ensure a sustainable production process that is fair and ecological. On the other hand we also keep an eye on the people that do produce our clothing. The fabrics must fit into the general ecological production cycle.
Organic cotton
In contrast to conventional cotton, the ecological raw material is not planted in monocultures. The use of pesticides is not longer necessary, plants are used instead. Most of the time Organic cotton ist harvested by hand, which makes it possible to distinguish between ripe and immature capsules. Although the process itself is more time- consuming, it is more gentle on people and the environment.
Tencel
The textile is also named unter the term Lyocell. The wood from the sustainably managed eucalyptus forests is used for fibre production. The naturally extracted raw materials are produced industrially. Compared to cotton, Tencel required 10 to 20 times less water and grows much faster. The textile creates a cool and fresh felling on the skin. Although it absorbs water, it quickly releases it again.
Linen
Organic linen is made from flax, a natural raw material. Flax is a recyclable fibre that does not need irrigation and almost no chemical treatment. All parts of the plant are used, ensuring no waste. Unlike in the production of conventional linen, no chemical pesticides, fertilizers or genetic engineering is used when producing organic linen. Garments made of linen are smooth, durable, lightweight and relatively resistant to dirt at the same time.
Modal
Lenzing Modal is mainly produced from Austrian beech wood. The advantage of the fibre is that the forests are not artificially irrigated. Only wood is used which is not intended for the furniture industry due to quality reasons. Modal is more elastic and durable than cotton. Even after several washes it remains dimensionally stable and crease resistant. In addition, the absorbency and the skills feel of the fibre give the textile a certain elegance. Modal is easy to dye and produces brilliant prints.
